The authoritative parenting style, which balances high expectations with warmth and support, is consistently linked to children with higher self-esteem, better emotional regulation, and stronger problem-solving skills, precisely because it encourages autonomy within clear boundaries [12][25].

Finally, neglecting quality time and active listening, as well as parental self-care, can profoundly impact family dynamics. In today’s busy world, genuine, focused interaction with children is often sacrificed. However, research highlights that quality time—characterized by undivided attention and meaningful engagement—is crucial for building trust, strengthening bonds, and fostering a child’s emotional, cognitive, and social development [26][27]. Children need to feel heard and valued; dismissing their thoughts or concerns, no matter how trivial they seem to an adult, can make them feel unimportant and lead to emotional withdrawal.
